This free workshop will educate you about how to get involved in land-use planning projects at city and county levels. Relevant examples of local issues will be cited. Resource materials, spanish translation and refreshments will be provided.

Reduce Your Footprint (One Small Step at a Time)
What: A Free Workshop on how to save energy and money around the house and office.
When: Wednesday, August 13th, 2008. 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Where: Faulkner Gallery at the Santa Barbara Library
In this interactive workshop we will brainstorm many easy ways, most of them free or inexpensive, to save energy and reduce your eco-footprint around your home and workplace. You will learn fun easy tips you may never have thought of. For instance, did you know that at 8 hours of use per day, the life-cycle cost of a compact flourescent lightbulb (the twisty kind) will pay off its additional purchase cost over an incandescent light bulb within a month? It's true! Come learn cool tips on how to save energy around your home and workplace.

Santa Barbara Sandcastle Festival
What: A Sandcastle Festival
When: September 13, 2008
Where: East Beach. Parking is available in the Cabrillo West public (lot adjacent to the Cabrillo Arts Pavilion) costs $2 for 3 hours or $7 for all day. Carpooling is and bicycling is strongly encouraged.
Join us for this one-day festival featuring live music and entertainment, a fun variety of activities for children & adults, vendor booths, food & refreshments, our "Surf-a-Duck" race, and of course, a spectacular sandcastle contest!
